Running your own business can be stressful at the best of times. As you bear the weight of anything that may go wrong and are ultimately the difference between whether your business thrives or not, stress can play a huge part in damaging your hard work and efforts.

Stress is natural and is to be expected when taking on the mammoth task of not only setting up, but running your own business. From the set up costs, all the way through to making sure you?re fully stocked up, everything can seem like a worry. However, this doesn?t need to be the case. As you?ve already had the guts to succeed in getting the business up and running, you can conquer anything else that may be thrown at you!

It?s important to remember that stress is a reaction to an event or situation and comes when there is no easy solution to the problem. Even if there is something going wrong or daily worries are making you want to tear your hair out, the most vital skill you should master as a business owner is the ability to think clearly and see negatives with a positive spin.

So, in this article we?re going to look at some of the main problems that can bog budding entrepreneurs down, killing productivity and even whole businesses. If you learn the tips we?re going to tell you, then stress busting should come naturally!

Organization, Or Rather Lack of It

One way to reduce stress is to make sure you are organized, this includes making sure you are prepared with plenty of supplies, like cardboard boxes and other packaging items. Being organized is probably the most important thing that you need to learn when you run your own business. Sadly, organization isn?t a skill that many people find easy and this can lead to serious problems.

But, if you?ve identified the problem that you possess is your lack of organizational skills, then you?re on the right track to learning how to master the art. After all, a small problem can escalate rapidly if paperwork, contact details or other items cannot be quickly sourced when needed. Becoming a more organized person doesn?t mean that you should have a complete turnaround of your lifestyle, but rather take simple and effective steps that will help you invaluably.

Make sure that you know where everything is, or where everything is going. Items that you use every day should have their own specific place so that they don?t end up getting lost in amongst a sea of other things. Keys on key holders, phone numbers by the phone in an A-Z diary and wallets in a locked desk drawer will make for good practice when you need to know where simple things are. Setting alarms on your phone calendar to order new supplies, if you run an e-commerce site, for example can help you remember things better than a note in a diary.

For the unorganized, balancing workloads and remembering tasks that need to be done can be the main cause of business failure. Make to-do lists and priorities any outstanding tasks once a week. That way you can never be more than a week behind if something does happen, meaning you are unable to complete a job.

Not Remembering to Relax

When you have a million things going on in your head, it can be hard to remember that you will crash and burn if you don?t take a break. Overworking yourself won?t help your business and can lead to all sorts of emotional problems, as well as physical exhaustion and even depression.

You have to learn how to leave work on a shelf temporarily and remember to have some time to yourself. Don?t work at the weekends unless it?s absolutely necessary and spend at least a few hours a day relaxing and doing nothing at all. Read a book, watch a film or take up a hobby if you don?t already have one.

Money Mishaps

Being very careful and organized with your money is obviously important. Some business owners make the mistake of putting extra budget out there when something goes wrong. This is counterproductive and can only lead to further problems ? especially if money is already tight.

Investing in a good accountant and keeping a log of all outgoings is important. Everything that leaves the business bank account being noted and recorded will make a lot of difference. Remember even around ?5 a week on milk for the office will turn into ?250+ a year. Even the small things add up to make a difference to the bigger picture.
