Industry veterans to launch used car website - Motor Trader Magazine

A new trade to trade used car website? is being launched by a team of auction and remarketing veterans.

Carcom.co.uk is a joint venture headed up by chief executive Gerry Lynch (pictured), an ex-sales and marketing director at Inchcape Automotive and former director of sales at British Car Auctions.

The management team also includes sales and operations director Mark Thomas, who was previously with Carsite and commercial director Peter Rosie, ex-head of remarketing at Motability Operations.

The company is backed by Bluecycle, which auctions car salvage online. Bluecycle, a wholly owned subsidiary of insurance firm Aviva, is providing the trading platform for Carcom.

The platform, due for launch in January, offers a trade only fixed price stock locator for independent and franchised dealers to find and sell stock and an electronic auction site that allows dealers to enter and bid for vehicles.

The firm is also launching a lead generation site Findacar for car buyers to upload their vehicle requirements and there is also a disposal option at Sellmycar that enables retail customers to advertise privately owned used cars for sale to registered dealers

Dealers pay a monthly fee of ?99 per retail outlet to avail of all the services. There is no limit to the number of vehicles that dealers can buy or sell at fixed price or at auction.

Carcom said the channel would be a major disposal channel for fleets, leasing and rental companies and carmakers.
